Sarah McKillup

From GURPSworld Wiki

Sarah Jin McKillup was born on November 15th, 2006 in San Jose, California to Min and Roger McKillup. She is currently the CEO of Azimuth, and has held that position for four years. She succeeded Hank Logue, one of Azimuth's founders, and her mentor for many years. She is among the youngest CEOs of a major corporation in the world today.

Early Life

McKillup was recognized as a child prodigy by the time she was three years old and already speaking with the vocabulary of children twice her age. She enrolled at Stanford University when she was 14 years old. There she completed a double major in engineering and economics in three years. In addition, she helped the womens swimming team win consecutive NCAA division I titles in her second and third years, and set an NCAA record for the womens 100 meter freestyle in her final year, when she was only 17 years old. The record stood for three years. Upon completion of her undergraduate education, McKillup went on to simultaneously complete an MS in electrical engineering, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in economics by age 22. Following this, she was recruited by Azimuth.

Min McKillup, Sarah's mother, was Roger McKillup's second wife. McKillup had two children by his first wife, Laura, prior to their divorce. They were fraternal twins, Patrick and Megan, and were eight years older than Sarah. They died in an automobile accident during a skiing trip when Sarah was 12 years old.

At Azimuth

McKillup rose quickly up the corporate ladder at Azimuth. She was a junior executive by the age of 25, and a senior executive by the age of 29. She was seen as Logue's closest advisor, and was selected by Logue to head the company upon his retirement three years after her promotion to the senior staff. Prior to Logue's retirement, she held the position of Chief Visionary Officer which, along with the CFO, are regarded as the second-most important positions within the company.

Under McKillup's leadership, Azimuth has seen its growth accelerate and its global reach expand. Azimuth Australiasia and Azimuth Sahara, projects started under McKillup, are, together, expected to quintuple the world's solar energy production over the next five years. Additionally, Azimuth has strengthened its corporate bonds with Datalite and Halon, and the corporations are seen more and more as three parts of a larger entity, specializing in power, communications, and defense, respectively, although each corporation has a broad array of interests beyond its primary specialty.

The three corporations have undertaken a massive project known as the Thaumas Program, to develop self-sustaining floating sea colonies along the equatorial regions of the world's oceans. Thaumas I, located in the vicinity of Kiribati, was recently featured in a multi-media piece by Global Outlook. Thaumas II is also under development in the Indian Ocean, in the vicinity of the Maldives. Thaumas III and Thaumas IV are planned to commence development at proposed sites near The Galapagos Islands, and São Tomé and Prîncipe, respectively. The Thaumas Program is thought to be the brainchild of McKillup.

Personal Life

McKillup lives in Marin County, California. Her residence, Sol Timore, is famous for being on the cutting edge in terms of both design and technology. It has been featured in Architectural Record and on the 37th season of MTV Cribs. It contains 10,000 square feet of living space, about a third of which is devoted to McKillup's personal laboratory and computer center. The residence also has an Olympic-length lap pool and a grass tennis court, both of which are enclosed in a glass and steel solarium. Also on the property are McKillup's four air cars and her helicopter. When viewed from above, the landscaping and the design of the house combine to take the shape of The Eye of Horus, though this is entirely unapparent at ground level.

McKillup has not married and has no children. In interviews, she has stated that the reasons for such are that she views Azimuth as her family, and that she doesn't have time for another family outside of that. When she is not at the Azimuth offices in San Jose or at home, she spends time assisting with the administration of numerous charities, mainly in the areas of animal rights and conservation.

Since The Attack

McKillup moved to the Thaumas I station in early 2045, at the outset of the collapse of human civilization in the wake of news of an imminent extraterrestrial attack reaching the public. Her term as the President of the Azimuth corporation ended in June of 2045, when all corporations aboard the Thaumas stations were disbanded. She now serves as an engineer, and maintains a log of her activities. She is vocal about attacking The Enemy as soon as possible, lest they make unstoppable progress at reaching the Earth's core and ultimately destroying the planet.
