A series of adventures featuring a US military special operations team.
NASA Special Operations Command
A division of the space agency dedicated to performing a variety of special missions and projects involving aerospace technology and operations. NASA Special Operations is made up of a variety of departments dedicated to a number of purposes. The Department of Space Technology, with headquarters on Moffett Field at NASA Research Park, specializes in the launch as well as the recovery of satellites and space probes.
Team Delta
Established in 1973, this team of military and scientific operatives assists NASA Special Operations in a variety of tasks necessary to the completion of many missions. Team Delta operates under the command of Colonel R.J. McKenna, a US Special Forces Commander and liaison to NASA Special Operations. The team headquarters are at Moffett Field in Hangar One, a former dirigible housing facility. The secret nature of the team is kept guarded by the cover story of toxic chemicals in the hangar's construction.
Missions
Operation Urgent Light
One of NASA's comet probes has gone down in Afghanistan, near the Pakistan border. The area is remote and hostile. Taliban forces are known to hide in the mountainous region. USAF tracked the probe through atmospheric re-entry and have determined a 5 square mile area near the village of Asmar in which the craft could be located. Two scientists from NASA join Team Delta on this mission.
Operation Ghost Wind
Thought dead, Captain Sean Riley revived and, crazed with fever, attempted to bite several personnel. Riley managed to wound two of the attending medics before fleeing Camp Romero and escaping into the Afghan hills. Members of USMC 5th Reconnaissance gave pursuit. Riley was shot several times before falling into a deep ravine. A search for Riley’s body was begun but abandoned at 18:00 as darkness fell and Taliban forces were sighted in area. NASA Special Operations Command orders Team Delta to retrieve Captain Riley's body and return to Moffett Field.
Operation Silent Proof
Team Delta is assigned to retrieve a suspected Chinese spy satellite that has crashed near Twin Falls, New Mexico.
Dissolution of Team Delta
In the aftermath of Operation Silent Proof, Team Delta was dissolved and eliminated from NASA Special Operations Command. Team Delta personnel were transferred to US Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command.
