The Gambler is a mysterious figure thought to be both a powerful necromancers and gifted teleporter. He is also a shapeshifter and thought to travel under a number of aliases. He is known as the Gambler due to his propensity for offering bets or attempting to entice people into a card game. He has been described as a "trickster" by those who have encountered him, and does not likely play an honest game.

He is thought either to be a powerful necromancer, or is in possession of a powerful necromantic artifact. In his guise as the Dark Priest, the Gambler was responsible for the theft and imprisonment of over two dozen souls in Phillipstown. He has been encountered in the Enchanted Forest and Iron Hills of Avondale.

The Gambler often attempts to lure people into a game using cards that closely resemble a Tarot deck. One report of the game describes it as resembling Faro, while another account suggests a simple game of blackjack. The Gambler is also said to play dice and other games of chance, but seems to prefer the Tarot card game over all others.

The elder Olen Kleytus claims to have enlisted the aid of the Gambler in retrieving various magic items lost when traveling through the gate stone network. These items are thought to end up in the Territories. Kleytus believes the Gambler has the ability to travel between the Territories and Avondale without using the gate stones.
