Sollerin

From GURPSworld Wiki

The Sollerin Corporation is a corporate security firm based in Omaha, Nebraska. It has offices throughout North and South America. Sollerin was formed in 2022 by Pete Sollerin, a retired colonel from the US Marines. The company started by providing bodyguards and private security for wealthy individuals, later expanding into on-site security for corporations and events, and eventually branching out into security consulting. Those in the know are familiar that the latter refers not only to analysis of security protocol, but also to field activities throughout North and South America. Sollerin, and it's Minneapolis-based rival, Whitefield, are known for providing highly-trained operatives for sensitive assignments. Whitefield and Sollerin are known to often be at odds, as rival corporate interests will hire one to outmaneuver the other.

The Sollerin Campaign

Events in the Sollerin campaign take place five years prior to those in Azimuth, which puts it at year 2034. The setting involves agents working for Sollerin on behalf of the interests of their clients. Player characters in the game are highly-trained special operatives who routinely engage in dangerous security work. This game will serve as a setting for one-shot scenarios and time-fillers. Secondarily, it will provide some back-story to the Azimuth setting. The guidelines for character creation are as follows:

• TL 9, cinematic.

• 200 character points to start.

• Characters must have a 20 point Duty disadvantage to the Sollerin Corporation (almost always; extremely hazardous).

• A disadvantage limit of 50 is imposed, including the aforementioned Duty. Agents must be fit for field duty, meaning they cannot have severe handicaps that will impede their ability to work. Adjusted attributes that are not below the normal human average are not counted against disadvantages. For example, an agent with an IQ of 12 but a perception of only 11 would not have those five points counted against his disadvantage limit. Quirks will be counted as part of the disadvantage total.

• Agents must be familiar with gyroc weaponry, and are issued gyrocs by the corporation. All agents start with two 15 mm gyroc micromissiles in addition to standard ammunition. Other special ammunition is available as well (see UT 152 for more details).

• Agents are issued reflex armor appropriate to their assignments. This will typically include at least a reflex vest and trousers.

• Sollerin will provide all vehicles and other equipment necessary to complete missions.

• Agents must have skill in at least one language besides English. They must also have skill in Computer Operations, Electronics Operation (Security), Gesture, Parachuting, Scuba (and Swimming), and some melee combat ability. Basic area knowledge of Earth and the US is also required.

• Cybertech and biotech at LC 2 or higher are available to agents; LC 1 is available to agents at double the cost. LC 0 is unavailable.

• No superscience or supernatural powers are available.
