Pakistan civil war. Nathan Stiles releases public beta of AlphaWorld, a virtual reality environment. Syrian King Assad flees Damascus and is granted political asylum in London. Jul: Religious militants seize Damascus and declare an Islamic state. Dec: Popular religious leader Ahmed Pahlavi elected President of Afghanistan.
2018
XeTech founded in Santa Paula, CA. Afghanistan president organizes coalition of socialists and religionists. MMI produces second-generation brain-computer interface. North Korea publicly executes six missionaries accused of espionage. Pakistan military government agrees to cease-fire with insurgents. American Robotics begins consumer sales of general-purpose robot (equivalent of TL9 Android, UT 41).

The Islamic Caliphate is formed, consisting of Syria, Iran, and Iraq.

NASA announces sale of Orion space platform technology to 20-year old billionaire Nathan Stiles. Revolutionary government of Afghanistan joins Islamic Caliphate. Several members of Saudi royal family assassinated by religious militants. Military government of Pakistan declares strategic alliance with Islamic Caliphate.

Government of India announces military conscription. Indian military places armed forces in state of “emergency readiness.” Saudi monarchy overthrown in non-violent religious revolution.

Turkish parliament rejects bid to join Islamic Caliphate. Pakistan and Islamic Caliphate military forces seizing Punjab and Rajasthan areas of India. Orion space platform begins regular operation of Earth-Moon voyages. Islamic Revolutionary Government of Arabia joins the Islamic Caliphate.

Nuclear device detonated by suicide bomber in New Delhi. India launches tactical nuclear attack against Pakistan. India and Pakistan agree to cease-fire.

Construction of Shimizu Arcology begins in Tokyo Bay. Pakistan formally joins the Islamic Caliphate. Megastorm strikes California coast. Massive earthquake devastates Los Angeles, where most are still recovering from the storm.

Billionaire Nathan Stiles forms International Space Systems (ISS). Construction of Crescent City, an arcology to be built over old New Orleans, begins.

ISS begins constructing and testing prototypes of space exploration vehicles. “Oil War” between Indonesia and Philippines. US Congress enacts numerous safety regulations and restrictions for reality television production.

Virulent Anthrax-B outbreak in western US. Wild World Productions leases private island for production of reality television show. Blood supplies in Asia discovered to be contaminated with HIV.

Massive 8.8 earthquake and tsunami strike Pacific Northwest, killing over 6,000 people. A virulent strain of canine influenza (H3N6) is reported in the US and China.

Hanta virus outbreaks in Hong Kong, Pyongyang, Seoul, and Tokyo. Canine influenza has leads to the death of nearly 50% of the global canine population.
2034
American Robotics announces production of advanced cyber-pet, which features non-volitional AI. Ebola-B outbreak in Russia. American Robotics launches lifelike robodog with limited AI that surpasses canine intelligence.
2035
UN declares global drought conditions in effect over 60% of planet. BordelloGate scandal: US Vice-president and several members of Presidential cabinet forced to resign. Reports of rare and unusually fatal avian flu (H8N8) outbreak in Russia. Robodog is number one selling item in the world.
