STARDATE 3801.31
Things have been slow for the last few months. The Merlin has been on sector patrol. Roman spends most of his time either sparring or otherwise entangled with JS. Hruska and Kandegawa are focused on getting their certs – both are deeply anxious to get some mission activity and get closer to ranking. My own skills are all over the board – it’s no wonder, as I spent most of the last year in a kind of chaotic development. But the last three months I’ve focused, worked out, and managed to improve my overall dexterity. This will help toward my eventual achievement of the special ops cert and maybe advanced tactical studies at the Academy. It might be nice to get back to earth in a few months, stay home for a while, get to know Hil’ta better, listen to jazz, drink coffee. I’ve got a nice apartment in San Francisco and I won’t be there for another year. Well, I can’t say it hasn’t been worth it. The missions have been just what I signed up for and more. If I were a Tri-Vid writer, I’d have plenty of material. And although I’m a little bored and a lot restless, having three months of eventless humdrum duty has given me the chance to meditate, get focused, and hopefully make full LT before the ensigns on my team outrank me! And it’s probably good that Kande and Hruska got a break – that last mission probably put them through more than they were expecting when they were at the Academy. Rumor has it we’ll be getting an assignment in a couple of days. Let’s hope we’re not too rusty. If our luck holds out, we’ll be holding off a platoon of strange alien warriors, armed only with a hand phaser and some seashells.
