Abraham Bogg

From GURPSworld Wiki

Abraham Bogg (b. 2133, Earth) was the first human to enter the area of space now referred to as Aurora Sector. He provided early maps of both the Aurora and Agora systems, in addition to locating and charting a large cluster on the edge of the sector.

Bogg was a colorful man, whose travels took him over nearly parsec of the Alpha quadrant. He is known to have visited every Federation member world. Bogg claimed to have visited over a thousand planets, but was also known for boastful, colorful tales.

One of the more famous of these tales concerned a “lost world” which Bogg claimed to have discovered in 2214. Bogg referred to the world as “Brigadoon,” due to its apparent habit of only appearing in our dimension once every twenty-three years. When he attempted to interest the Federation in this story, he was dismissed, primarily due to his insistence that he be made Ambassador to the planet.

Bogg continued to explore further beyond the limits of the sector. He claimed to have visited many new planets and encountered many alien races. He also said he ventured near the radiation zone which surrounds the galactic nucleus, where he lost twenty years due an intense relativistic effect caused by the gravity and radiation near the core. Many believe this story to be true, and note that Bogg appears to be only half his age.

In his later years Bogg returned and took up residence on Aurora-III, where he currently resides. Bogg is one of the primary trade representatives for the colony, and is a respected and loved citizen of Aurora. He operates a small cantina in the colony village and owns several acres of farmland.

Scientists have dismissed many of Bogg’s claims, finding his facts to be unreliable and his descriptions at best exaggerated. He has a small folk following throughout the Federation, and is somewhat of a local hero with the Aurora colonists.
