2039 bombing of the Azimuth Brighter Future testing facilities in San Jose

The 2039 bombing of the Azimuth Brighter Future testing facilities took place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday June 3rd, 2039 at the Azimuth Brighter Future testing facilities in San Jose, California. The bombing destroyed the facility and resulted in the deaths of 37 people, including the Director of the Brighter Future Program, Dr. Marcus Welker. The bombing is suspected to have been perpetrated by Dr. Marcus Dunne, Jack Fletcher, Roberto Garza, Kozmo Espinosa Kaminski, Walter Lewis, and Teresa May. All of the suspected terrorists were finalists in Azimuth's Brighter Future Program, and had been transported to San Jose for the final round of testing. All of the suspects remain at large, and Azimuth has offered rewards of $1,000,000 for the capture of each suspect, and an additional reward of $9,000,000 for the capture of Kozmo Espinosa Kaminski. There is speculation that one or more other conspirators perished in the bombing and were among the 37 dead, but no official reports to that effect have been released.

The motives behind the bombing remain a mystery to investigators and to the general public. Many believe that the bombing was an act of corporate warfare perpetrated by an as-yet unidentified rival of Azimuth. Others believe the act was carried out on behalf of anti-corporate terrorists who targeted the Brighter Future Program because of its lower security compared to other Azimuth facilities. Global peace factions have also been suspected, as the Azimuth alliance with Halon has brought the corporation some unfavorable publicity from anti-Halon activists.

Azimuth has since suspended the Brighter Future Program indefinitely, pending a full investigation into the bombing and the capture of the six suspects.
