Graves Briefing. Unknown hostiles attack Apple Farm. Team Zero protects Director Welles and DDO Abrams, saving their lives from an assassin.

2 MAY 1965

Team Zero evacuated to safehouse. Consultant Gordon Ross escorted to safehouse.

3 MAY 1965

Team Zero visits OSI-Las Vegas facility, with a side trip to a secret desert base run by OSI/SOG-18.

4 MAY 1965

Kareem meets with Gardner Graves to discuss the illusionist Vassago.

5 MAY 1965

Team Zero attends private dress rehearsal of Vassago's show.

6 MAY 1965

Kareem has breakfast with Graves and Vassago while illusion-disguised teammates keep a close watch.

7 MAY 1965

Team Zero reports to OSI Los Angeles facility. Ace meets with Regina Davies, who provides a list of psionically-talented individuals who have been having similar dreams. Ghermanovich gadgeteers handheld psionic and magic field readers. Duke wires Section 22 of the labs.

8 MAY 1965

Ace and Kareem begin interviewing psychics. At 10:00 that night, a seismic subsidence at Salton Lake results in flooding and loss of life.

9 MAY 1965

Team Zero encounters and dispatches a rogue xenomorph at Salton Lake. The death of the xenomorph results in a burst of parachronic energy that causes Team Zero to become displaced in the linear time contiuum.

16 MAY 1965

Team Zero leaves Salton Sea for R&R at Company safehouse near Van Nuys.

17 MAY 1965

Team Zero debriefing by Division 88.

18 MAY 1965

Abaddi, Duke, and Ghermaovich return to LA office to find some changes have been made. Dr. Powers, who locked himself in the bioscience lab several days earlier, is found dead at his console, presumably due to the gamma radiation now flooding the lab. Abaddi, Ace, and Aurora recruit Psychic Friends to help with the project. Duke and Ghermanovich work into the night attempting to understand and operate the Powers Device.

19 MAY 1965

Duke and Ghermanovich convince Giovanni Kholodenko to join the project. The team works together to determine which of the Psychic Friends are best qualified for the project. Kholodenko, Paxton, and Tindall are selected and agree to participate. The device is powered up and the three volunteers are attached to the Gestalt Web. Ghermaovich and Duke monitor the participants closely while Ace and Abaddi keep close by in case of emergency. The web works as designed and soon the three individuals become one shared mind. Ghermanovich slowly adjusts the psionic transfer rate between the volunteers and the xenormorph known as the "Brain." A successful communication link is established and the Brain is asked if it can aid in contacting HWIBAB. Soon the Brain, using the shared minds of the volunteers, produces instructions for the construction of a psionic communication array in order to contact HWIBAB.

20 MAY 1965

Ghermanovich engineers two psionic-radio translation modules. Abaddi and Duke travel to Edwards AFB where a radio communications link is established between Team Zero HQ and the experimental Subterranean Broadcasting Station. Near midnight, contact with XM-GAN-8/001 appeared to have been established. Further developments confirmed contact. The volunteers and Brain engaged in a conversation with the entity.

21 MAY 1965

Kareem files a report with Oracle and is told that a representative from Division 22 will be arriving shortly. Agent Roi soon arrives and speaks with the team. He then requests a private session with the volunteers. Roi leaves after several hours, indicating that Division 22 feels Team Zero "has done some good work here." Artyom and Duke begin brainstorming for ways to "feed" XM-GAN-8/001 without cost to human life. Everyone gets a good night of sleep.

22 MAY 1965

Angel City Times reports a bear attack in Griffith Park. The bear was later killed by police. Kareem and Ace retrieve the corpse of the bear from the city zoo, where a veterinarian performing the autopsy demonstrates to them that it is no ordinary bear. Ace does a Body Scan and discovers the creature has what appears to be a mana-producing gland located at the base of its brain. Artyom constructs wireless transceivers to adapt the psiberface helmets and allow the volunteers to move more freely about the lab. That evening Artyom performs a vivisection of the bear-like creature and safely removes the "mana gland."

23 MAY 1965

As a result of research done by Merryanne and Jenkins, Kareem receives the names to two "dream-walking" shamans in the Los Angeles area, along with information that the Parkman Institute has also done work in "dream control." The volunteers request they be allowed to continue the "relationship" with the Brain; to that end, Kholodenko submits a plan suggesting their bodies be placed in some form or stasis to reduce the amount of maintenance required. Duke begins a dialog with the Brain in an attempt to locate the Brain's home dimension and possibly send it home.

24 MAY 1965

Team Zero meets Topanga Joe, a Tongva shaman who agrees to attempt contact with XM-GAN-8/001 in exchange for a new truck.

25 MAY 1965

Agent Roi from Division 22 visits Angel Base. Kareem reports possible OSI leak to CIA Counterintelligence.

27 MAY 1965

Team Zero visits Alden House. Kareem struck blind. Tibetan Lightning Stone liberated from Promethean Foundation.

28 MAY 1965

Kareem recovers his vision. The team researches university and metaphysical libraries for information about the stone. Ghermanovich begins theorizing on methods of transferring the stone's energy to the Brain.

29 MAY 1965

Secret Service inspects Angel Base in preparation for the President's visit.

30 MAY 1965

President Nixon visits Angel Base and meets with the Totality.

31 MAY 1965

At 1:17 AM a massive and prolonged quake (later reported to be up to 8.1 in intensity and nearly 60 seconds in duration) strikes the Los Angeles area. Severe damage occurs throughout the city. Elsewhere the Salton Lake basin floods dramatically creating a large inland sea and several large rifts appear along the San Andreas fault.

1 JUNE 1965

Division 23 is formed to manage the HUBIC Totality. Special Agent Roland Childes, a senior field agent in Division 4, is placed in charge of the project. Team Zero is reassigned for further training.

3 JUNE 1965

Seventeen personnel arrive from Langley to begin operations of Division 23. Childes’ deputy is an Asian woman (referred to as “Miss Jones”) who once worked directly for Director Welles. Basement labs and Angel Base offices are overtaken by personnel from divisions 18, 29, and 88. Team Zero is relocated to a secure safehouse in the Hollywood Hills.

14 JUNE 1965

Members of Team Zero are placed on Administrative Leave, with rank privileges and security clearance suspended, pending clearance in two ongoing investigations by counterintelligence division.

30 June 1965

Team Zero disbanded. All members released from service with commendation.
