Hostile locals attacked the landing party causing one of the saint's party to lose his front teeth. Most of the party fled in their boats, but one man was undeterred and remained in Wicklow. He became known as Manntach, which means “toothless one,” and eventually founded a church. The monk was also said to have been able to work wonders and miracles in the name of the One God.
