Xuxa Soares

Xuxa Soares (b. 2219) is an ensign serving her first assignment aboard the USS Shanghai. Her specialties include martial arts and weapons training.

History

Xuxa Soares was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She is the third child of Otavia and João Soares, themselves children of Brazilian immigrants to the United States. Otavia is the organizer for a children's judo league in central Texas, and João is a stunt man and martial arts instructor. Both of her parents and both of her older brothers are martial artists; her parents are students and practitioners of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Jeet Kune Do. Xuxa began studying martial arts at a young age and has developed significant skill in both of her parents' specialties. She was an assistant instructor in judo during her junior and senior years at Starfleet Academy.

Xuxa's older brothers, Alfredo (b. 2212) and Vicente (b. 2214), are both graduates of Starfleet Academy and both currently serve in Starfleet. Xuxa received pressure from her siblings to follow suit, and did so. Her parents are ardent supporters of the Federation and Starfleet, and were happy that all of their children went into service. Xuxa joined Starfleet mainly out of convenience and familial pressure, but has grown to enjoy the lifestyle of a Starfleet officer. She has no great career ambitions beyond a steady advancement and the opportunity to explore Federation space, and spends much of her free time developing her martial arts skills.
